Runa Laila on Sridevi's demise

Runa Laila expressed her grief over the loss:

“A great icon has died. Her dances were also to be seen. Sridevi was called the first female Superstar in Bollywood. She has ruled the eighties and nineties decades. For many such films, Mr. India, Lamhe, Chandni, Nagina, Sadma, `Himmatwala` - for such films, she will be alive for ages. I have seen both her last two films English Vinglish and Mom.Sridevi passed away very untimely. I have become speechless after learning the news of her death. There is no such language that can express this lamentation. This is a departure of an outstanding artiste. It was amazing to see her dancing.”

“Many years back, I met with her first time in London. She was working there for the film Chaand Kaa Tukdaa opposite Salman Khan.”

“She was also extraordinary as a human being. I met her again six years ago at the restaurant of Ashaji (Indian singer Asha Bhosle) in Dubai. I went there to enjoy my dinner. We had spent long quality time. She had also admired my singing profoundly”, she added.

Runa Laila also said: “Then again, I met with Sridevi during a musical contest on Colors TV. I was one of the main judges with Ashaji and Abida Parvin. Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor was the producer of that programme.”

“I believe Sridevi could give more to Bollywood. She always looked very active. A person like her died in a heart attack—I can’t still think of it. Her untimely demise has created a void which cannot be fulfilled.”
